1. The stepping of foundations on the longitudinal

section of aam 1s to be avoided.

Waste weir to be so arranged that it shall act as

a measuring weir both with "boards in and out, the question

of providing a Stoney's sluice to take the place of boards

to be considered, at any rate "boards" to be of iron.

A V notch, or if necessary V notch and rectangular weir to

be provided below overflow to measure small quantities, all

to be provided with self-registering water level measuring

gear.

Catchwater to be of such a gradient as

velocity of 5 or 6 ft. per ascond.

Gauge basin to have V notch and hook gauge.

Safety valves on draw off to be either flap valve

with chain and balance weight or ball resting in vertical

bell mouth. Outlet valves to be reduced to 6" and scour

to 9" with taper pipes.

Sectional area of outlet culvert may remain as

originally designed.
